Florida's Voluntary PreKindergarten Specialized Instructional Services (VPK SIS) education program is an additional option for parents of 4 year old children with disabilities that is available outside the traditional VPK classroom setting. If your child has a current individual educational plan (IEP) from your local school district that calls for specialized instructional services and is attending kindergarten in the fall you can choose VPK SIS instead of a traditional VPK summer program. This FREE program provides children with special needs the opportunity to receive specialized instruction (ESE services) over the summer to continue working on their IEP goals before attending kindergarten. VPK specialized instructional services are offered in individual or small group settings with a certified or licensed professional(s) trained to provide specific instruction. Roots Developmental & Therapeutic Services, Inc. takes great pride in creating an individualized comprehensive program that meets your child's specific needs to promote success in all areas of development.
If your child is eligible for VPK, you must first enroll them through your local early learning coalition office. They must meet three basic eligibility requirements for VPK SIS.
To receive a VPK SIS Summer voucher, you must apply through Florida's Early Learning Family Portal, available by clicking on the picture above. Be sure to have a copy of your child's IEP, proof of your child's age (birth certificate), and proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, government issued document).
